As we step into another season, I find myself pondering the idea of aging with grace. On one hand, it seems like the serene and proper way to go. Yet, a part of me resists the quiet submission to time’s relentless march.
I’ve always imagined myself going out with a fight, with my boots on kind of thing. Sadly, I haven’t worn boots in ages. But given the choice, I plan to go out with a bang, have fun, and make a difference in a world that needs it more than ever!
Aging with Grace Means Living Life to the Fullest
At 76, I can’t say I relish the idea of getting older. The aging part, not the grace part, holds little charm. So, I’ve decided to squeeze every ounce of life out of my remaining years. Like Roger Whittaker once said, “I have no fear of death; it brings no sorrow.” I hope the memories I leave behind are joyful ones.
Art, well that is where this article comes in. I believe it is truly an art to wake up every day and tell myself that this is going to be the best day ever. Sure, some days that is more difficult than others but it’s the effort that counts.
It might sound morbid, but I welcome death as an old friend when the time comes. Until then, I have much to do. Aiming for 100, why not? I’m still active, working full-time, walking, traveling, and helping others live better lives. Here’s my approach to living a great life:
Keep a Good Attitude: Smile often. Laugh whenever you can.
Retain a Healthy Brain: Think positive thoughts.
Maintain a Healthy Body: Avoid pain. Keep moving.
Enjoy a Healthy Relationship with Our Creator: Be thankful for all my blessings. A lot of people have it worse than I.
Make a Positive Difference in People’s Lives: Leave the world a little better than you found it.
I don’t want to tell you how you should live your life. That’s your choice. But I chose to live a great life because that’s much better than the alternatives.
The Importance of Attitude
A great attitude is central to good health and high quality of life. Zig Ziglar, one of my mentors, called it the “Attitude of Gratitude.” Life throws challenges our way, but each carries a hidden blessing. Sometimes it takes years to see it, but when you do, you’ll know you’ve arrived.
It’s all about perspective. A friend once quipped, “It doesn’t matter if the glass is half empty or half full; it still needs washing.” I learned early on that while I can’t control what happens to me, I can control how I react. Every problem is a learning experience.
Find reasons to laugh. Norman Cousins cured his cancer by laughing at old comedies, living to 97. Or take Ulysses S. Grant, who outlived his doctor’s predictions to finish his autobiography and secure his family’s future.
Your attitude shapes your life. A positive outlook can extend your years and improve your quality of life. Take charge of your attitude, and you take charge of your destiny. Control it, and you control your future.
Keeping Your Brain Sharp
A healthy brain is crucial for a good life. Aging naturally affects our recall and sharpness, but we can stay sharp by staying mentally active. Engage in hobbies, read, join clubs, or work on puzzles. I love researching and writing. Additionally, I take a supplement called MemNivia, which helps maintain and improve memory with age. Studies show it boosts cognitive function, preserving high-level processes like working memory and executive function.
To combat natural cognitive decline, it’s essential to stay mentally engaged. Activities like reading, solving puzzles, or joining clubs can keep the mind active. Personally, I enjoy researching and writing, which continuously challenges my brain.
Another tool in my arsenal is MemNivia, a supplement proven to enhance memory and cognitive function. Regular use supports high-level processes such as working memory and executive function, ensuring mental sharpness as we age.
Aging with Grace Means Maintaining a Healthy Body
Good health extends beyond positive thinking. As we age, our bodies change. Staying active is key. Find an activity you enjoy and do it regularly. A healthy diet is also crucial. I grew up on wholesome foods like spinach, beets, and carrots, which have greatly contributed to my health.
Maintaining the right weight is about balance. Your body burns calories, and excess is stored as fat. Eat enough to keep going, but not too much.
I also discovered the benefits of nitric oxide, which improves circulation and can reverse age-related diseases. I prefer OxySpark for its effectiveness. It also has other benefits, like aiding with erectile issues naturally.
Nurturing a Relationship with Our Creator
Grace is the essence of aging gracefully. I found faith in God through both science and spirituality. The serenity prayer helps me daily: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” I pray with gratitude for all my blessings and trust in God’s plan.
Aging with Grace Means Making a Positive Impact
Helping others is fulfilling. A simple smile can make a big difference. When we extend a kind gesture, it not only brightens someone else’s day but also creates a ripple effect of positivity. Volunteering, offering support, or just being there for someone in need can transform lives. Small acts of kindness, like a smile or a helping hand, can profoundly impact those around us.
I’ve written books like The Book of Affirmations, How You Think, The Five Secrets to Gain Financial Security, The Teachings of Florence Scovil Shinn, and The Teachings of Jesus Christ to help others live better of life. It’s rewarding to see the positive impact on people’s lives.
